Well!

This is actually pretty dang good for such an old song. The beginning was pretty iffy, but when it picked up, the synths and lyrics more than made up for that. This one is very simple, slow and perhaps even a little mournful. The music sorta reminds me of songs from Harry Potter, and it even has some Celtic sounding parts from :46 throughout the rest of the song. Very nice, I like it a lot.

Thanks :) Actually didnt think anyone would like this, so cool to hear you appreciate it. 1 happy listener makes it all fine and dandy, you realise =) Nice find with the celtic undertones. Glad you like it.

Lol

The eight minutes make me think of Tiesto, the style makes me think of Oakenfold and Cornandbeans fused together, and the synths remind me of various old .MOD and .XM songs. Fantastic arrangement, nice and diverse (for an eight minuter). It's very laid back and simple sounding (which is good!), it seems like a song that's just meant to sort of sit in the back of your mind as you work on something. The beginning was brilliant - you've got a great voice for this sort of thing. Again, keep it up with the awesomeness!

SkyMarshall responds:

Oh nice, you know what MOD and XM is. Kudos to you :) I actally started out making music in ProTracker on Amiga. Then later Impulse Tracker - and towards the end in FastTracker 2.08. Still use Modplug Tracker for those really cheesy old-school samples. Used it partly in this one actaully. So cool that you noticed. Anyway, thanks for the review man. Fun that people actually have the patience to sit through it for 8 long minutes :)

HMm....

Oohh man, I simply love the original, which automatically makes this great! The synths seem fairly weak when compared with the original, but your remix stands out on it's own because of that. Though this is old, I still have to say keep it up! You've got some great stuff man!

SkyMarshall responds:

We both do love the original. Both "Children" and that other one ... uhm ... ah ye, "Fable". Reminds me of the good old school-days. But yes, this is made pretty thin on purpose - just to keep the piano and beat mellow and steady. But Im glad you like it man, alltough it's not my best in my opinion. Thanks for the review :)

WOW!!!!

Now THIS is good! Excellent sound synthesis, moderately nerdy lyrics backed with an awesome voice... This whole song screams diversity! I absolutely love it, this is some of the highest quality material I've heard here on NG! I'm gonna be singing this for DAYS, simply amazing!

5/5, 10/10, and fav'd!

SkyMarshall responds:

Nice technical review there:) Haha first one to notice the lyrics are nothing but hardcore nerdy - because they are. But there's no shame in that :) Thanks for 10. Love it man :)

Wow!

Nice, very nice! I like it a lot, it's way heavier than my original! The only thing I don't like is that EVERYTHING is distorted, it starts getting kinda hard to listen to because of how distorted everything is. Besides that, all of the sounds blend really well, and it sound like it'd be a fantastic VG song, great job!

ah thank you man! ithnk you still deserve more credit for coming up with such an awesome acid riff dude! you have some realy skill your self, i like most of your music man! its well developed and well crafted! thank you for letting me remix this man!

Different, as usual :D

Dang man, your style has been changing a lot! I love the beat and the drums, the snare has some nice SMACK to it. However, one thing that kinda bugs me about it: There's barely any bass. I like the fuzzy feel for the bass sound effects, but they have very little actual bass to them. I personally think this one would have been better with a more analogue kind of bass, one that's a bit more soft sounding with a high impact all the same. Don't get me wrong, I actually like this song A LOT, but I'm having a hard time with the lack of bass...

crud responds:

word. the bass will be the homework.

Not bad! Not bad at all!

This is actually very good, especially seeing how you're new to FL. Very good job! The only thing I found that bugged me at all was the fact that a fair amount of the audio was clipping (that's what it's called when the song starts distorting). The best way to eliminate this is to use what is called the Fruity Compressor. Just pop one into a channel, link the sound you want it to affect, and turn the Gain down to a number in the -5 -9 range, then turn the main volume for the sound up 'till it sounds as loud as you want it to be. There are better ways to use a compressor, but (despite all of the experience I've had with it) I'm still learning how to use some of the better effects/what different knobs do. I also reccomend adding a compressor to the Main effect slot, and using that to affect the song's main volume. Trust me, the compressor will become one of your best friends in the course of you music making. Aside from all that, it's an awesome song. Keep mixing, and don't give up! You've got some serious skill man!

thx for the tips! much appreciated :D :D

LOTS OF SYTRUS

I'm not alone in this universe, someone else uses sytrus! I recognize a good deal of the sounds in this one... The gold saw, the basic distorted 2, and a few others that I recognize but don't know by name. Very cool!

F-777 responds:

Sytrus is good though lots of people don't like it for some reason...oh well.

Thanks for the review!

Huh...

I didn't really enjoy that one too much... It sounded kind of empty... But it's still good man! Dang, how many songs have you made now?

crud responds:

a few. the process has always been the same though. sit down, flesh out a song, bulk it up and test it on the hungry newgrounders. i'm sorry this one didn't fill you up. but it gives me more reason to take more time crafting the sound.
